AUSTSWIM Teacher of People with a Disability

Requirements:

 

1.        6 Hours face to face

 

Requirements:

 

·          Must hold current Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety certificate

·          15 Hours face to face

·          Online assessment

·          20 Hours practical teaching

 

Modules Include:

 

-          Behavior Management

-          Integration of people with a disability in our mainstream classes

-          Communication awareness and strategies

-          Motor Awareness and development

-          Safety and legal implications when working with people with a disability

 

Assessments: 

 

To gain the certificate, the following assessment components must be satisfactorily completed within 12 months of the course commencement date.

 

1.        Theory assessment.

2.       Demonstration of skills for teaching purposes.

3.       Lesson plans.

4.       Practical teaching hours including observation, supervised teaching and teaching assessment. It is recommended candidates undertake 20 hours of supervised teaching experience prior to assessment.

5.       Show evidence of holding a current cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) award.

6.       Sign and return Teacher Declaration
